The question of Federalism vs States Rights is similar to today's debate between the Republican candidate John McCain's stance of government "getting out of the way" and 'helping people to help themselves' and the popular Democratic stance of government taking a more active responsibility for correcting the social ills of society such as poverty, poor educational standards and the current housing crisis. Using your basic knowledge of the U.S economic crisis, i.e rising gas prices and rising staple food prices, and comparing the Democratic and Republican basic platforms, write a well supported essay of at least 3 paragraphs on which platform is GENERALLY better for what is needed in YOUR world, and in the lives of the people you love. Use your history texts in chapters 5 and 6 for historical reference of this longstanding debate.

In my opinion raising gas prices and making the prices higher on other nessecary stuff we need is crazy. Because think about it people are already struggling with making ends meet. This would make it evewn harder for the people who can't maintain the prices as they are now. Gas is a struggle for people who have cars. People can barely get to work and back. This is going to cause complications and in my opinion more crime. Because i see people getting car-jacked people stealing for money so that they can pay for this stuff. Raising prices on everyday things just does not make since this will cause a big struggle. Especially with people that already have a low income.
I think the high prices for gas is unnessecary.All the money that are taking out of people paychecks for taxes should be use for stuff like gas.People are already stuggling now they have to think and worry about gas. Even the people that don't have cars worry about gas because gas are used in homes for heat and other uses.
I feel that if the gas prices and other things are raised that it will cause a giant problem. Some people don't even have jobs which makes it hard on them to support there self and even sometimes there families.
i feel that raising gas prices i totalty ridiculous!!! in this world people are already stressed about other bills they have to pay and now gas thats lays down a big turd on our economy if u ask me. also collegues that are starting college and have an automobile is bad because they have so much too pay for. i think that the government needs to grow up and stop tryin to steal our money cus they already make enouf money in factories y do they need ani more? yaaaaaallllll just greedy!!!
My opinion on this subject is that these rising gas prices are getting way out of control.This is very sad for the people out here who are truly struggling to make it from day to day. They are also raising the prices on other things such as milk,bread meats,and other foods this is not fair at all.
Despite the fact that people worry about how their going to have money to put gas in their cars, they also struggle with heating there homes, and people shouldn't have to live in cold homes because they can't pay for the heat in teir homes.
