Each of the following questions must be answered in detail. Research should be done on the general concept of "UTOPIA," as well as on the specific questions raised, so that your answers will be informed and thorough. Your first, immediate step is to create an outline. This outline will demonstrate your strategy for answering the questions. As always, DO YOUR BEST WORK (smile)

How would you define a utopian society?

Has the concept of utopia changed over time and/or across cultures and societies?

What are the ideals (e.g., freedom, responsibility, justice, community, etc.) that should be honored in a utopian society?

How would you define a utopian society?

I think that a utopian society is a society where there are no problems or issues that are effecting the society. It is a society that basically is perfect. Even though we all know that there is no such thing as a perfect society because we are not perfect.

Has the concept of utopia changed over time and/or across cultures and societies?

No, because people still think that utopia is a perfect society and they consider it a paradise.

What are the ideals (e.g., freedom, responsibility, justice, community, etc.) that should be honored in a utopian society?

Since this society is perfect the things that will be honored would be citizenship, respect for elders, leadership, and positive attitudes.

Why do people continue to pursue the concept of a utopian society?

People continue to pursue the concept of a utopian society because today we live in a world were there is so much hatred and crime and people just want to see how it will be to live in a society that never has anything go wrong and that they can be safe in.

How do competing notions of what a utopian society should look like lead to conflict?

It will never lead to any conflict because to me how will you try to compete on a society were its perfect there should really be no competing.

What is the purpose and / or consequence of creating and/ or maintaining a dystopian society?

There is no purpose why would you want to create a bad society? If you think about we are living in a dystopian society, even though out society is not as bad as it can be we are dealing with things such a poverty, drugs, crimes, and abuse. Which are some things that we should really not be dealing with.

Is utopia attainable? At what cost would it be worth attaining?

Truthfully, I think that utopia is not attainable because the people that live in the society makes up the society. meaning the people shape and create it. Until we have people not "waking up on the wrong side of the bed" nothing will change. There is no cost because its not going to happen.

1. I think Utopia is a perfect place to live without any problems.

2. I think the concept has changed because the more things become wrong with the world the more people change there views of what they want Utopia to be like.

3. In Utopia people should be free to do what they want within reason and everything should be peaceful.

4.Everyone has there own view of what the perfect place should be like, so it causes conflict.

5. Dystopia's purpose is for people who do what ever they want and it makes the world a bad place to live in.

6.I don't think Utopia is possible right now because there are people who do too many wrong things like murder and robbery to make a society peaceful.

1. I would define utopian society a fiction society that people think of it as a perfect society.

2. No, I think the concepts of utopian has not changed because people still believe that utopian society is a crime free paradise.

3. The ideals are like leadership, smartness, respectful, and positive characters.

4. People actually want to live in a world where they are truly free and that they know that they are safe.

5. From my point of view you can not compete utopian society to conflict because everyone believe that utopian is like paradise a perfect society.

6. There is no purpose to it why would people want a bad society. We are in a dystopian society now.

7. As you can see utopian is not unattainable because the people in our society are intimidating, rude, and disruptive. In addition, if everyone was positive in our society then utopian could be unattainable. There is no cost.

5-Yes i do think that it would lead to conflict.

6-I Think that the conquences is that people are going to start creating conflicts because its so crime free and peaceful.

7-I dont think that we can reach the standards of the Utopian Society because people are going to do what they want no matter what consequences are behind it. I think that violence is always going to go on because of people decisions and what they are capable of doing.

WRITTEN BY: AMBER
1. I WOULD DEFINE A UTOPIAN SOCIETY AS A PLACE THAT HOLDS NO FLAWS. TO ME, A UTOPIAN SOCIETY IS A WOLRD THAT IS SIMPLY PERFECTION AND CREATES NO IMPERFECTION.

2. WELL, DUH!! EVERY CULTURE HAS THEIR OWN VIEW ON WHAT A UTOPIA IS. A UTOPIA TO ONE CULTURE MAY BE A PLACE WHERE THE CAN SLAUGHTER EACH OTHER FOR FUN WHEREAS, ANOTHER CULTURE MAY FEEL THAT A UTOPIAN SOCIETY IS WHERE THEY CAN LIVE AT PEACE WITH AN ABUNDANCE OF FOOD AND SHELTER. IT ALL DEPENDS ON A PERSONS CULTURE.

3. IN MY OPINION, UNITY IS THE ONLY IDEAL THAT WOULD BE HONORED BECAUSE WITHOUT A UNIFIED COMMUNITY, THERE WOULD NOT BE A UTOPIA.

4. ALOT OF PEOPLE WANT TO LIVE IN A PERFECT SOCEITY AND MAY THINK THAT THEY WILL SOON GET TO LIVE IN ONE ALTHOUGH IN REALITY, OUR SOCIETY WILL NEVER BE A UTOPIA.

5. EVERYBODY HAS THEIR OWN OPINION OF WHAT A UTOPIA SHOULD BE LIKE AND, OF COURSE, THEIR WILL BE DIFFERENCES THAT MAY LEAD TO SOME SORT OF CONFLICT.

6. THE CONSEQUENCE OF CREATING A DYSTOPIAN SOCIETY IS DISPLAYED EVERYDAY IN OUR NATION. AS YOU CAN SEE, THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT WE, AS A NATION, DO NOT AGREE ON WHICH CAUSES MAINLY PHYSICAL CONFLICTS.

7. I THINK THAT OVER TIME, UTOPIA IS ATTAINABLE. IF THE PEOPLE THAT INHABIT THIS NATION WOULD STOP THEIR QUARRELING AND AGREE ON THINGS WITHOUT FIGHTING THEN WE COULD HAVE THE OPPORTUINTY TO LIVE IN A UTOPIAN SOCIETY.

1. I define a utopian society as a society that don't have no problems.

2. No because it will be hard to do that do to the all the crime rates and everything else.

3. Respect, freedom and freedom of speech.

4. People would want to live in a good place with no crime.

5. People might not like other people and that can lead to fights.

6. The consequence is to let people do what they want but in a peaceful society.

7. Yea a utopian society is attainable. A utopian society can cost a lot of money to me.

How would you define a Utopian society?
• A place in which social, legal, and political justice and perfect harmony exist.
Has the concept of utopia changed over time and/or across cultures and societies?
• I believe that it has changed in a few ways. Its still has laws but laws also change.
What are the ideals (e.g., freedom, responsibility, justice, community, etc.) that should be honored in a Utopian society?
• I believe that legal and political justice should be honored. It just seems right.
Why do people continue to pursue the concept of a Utopian society?
• They must believe that it will soon come to them. They think that one day they will live in a Utopian society.
How do competing notions of what a Utopian society should look like lead to conflict?
• I believe it will lead to a conflict because one person might think it may look like this but then another might believe it looks like something else. They get in a argument and then it might just end in a fist fight.
What is the purpose and / or consequence of creating and/ or maintaining a dystopia society?
• If that was ever to be created, then everyone will be having a bad day everyday. It’s basically the opposite of a Utopian society.
Is utopia attainable? At what cost would it be worth attaining?
• I think if someone really put their mind to it then it really could be attained. I believe that cost would be a lot. Having to find a place to put it and getting everything together. It will be hard work, but it can be done.

1.The Utopian society is a perfect place in another world, were there is no violence.

2. Yes because there is no perfect society the only perfect place is heaven, that could be called the Utopian society and the only one.

3. This could help make it perfect but everyone has their opinion on things so other people would not follow the rules because its not to their pleasing.

ThomasH18 said...

4.They try to pursue this idea because if this were possible the world would be a very peaceful environment, but if they would try to turn the world into the Utopian society it would take a life time and many years after to accomplish this.

ThomasH18 said...

5.This was Dystopia's purpose is for the people who do what ever they want and it makes the world a bad place to live in.

ThomasH18 said...

6.it just basically allows people to do what the want in their own peaceful way

7. It could possibly make everyone go insane trying to become perfect. I feel as though there is no point to the Utopian society
